### Israeli Military Recovers Bodies of Dual U.S.-Israeli Hostages
TEL AVIV, Israel - In a precise operation conducted by special military forces, the Israeli military successfully retrieved the bodies of Judi Weinstein Haggai, 70, and her husband, Gad Haggai, 72. Both were dual citizens, with Judi holding Israeli, U.S., and Canadian citizenship, while Gad was a U.S.-Israeli citizen.
The recovery took place near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, an area where the couple's remains had been taken by the Mujahideen Brigades following their deaths in southern Israel on October 7, 2023. An Israeli military official, speaking anonymously, confirmed the operation's success, stating it was based on intelligence gathered by Israel.
The couple, who leave behind four children and other family members in Israel and the U.S., were among the many victims of the recent conflict. Presently, the bodies of two more U.S.-Israeli citizens remain in Gaza. Overall, the Israeli government reports around 36 deceased and approximately 20 living hostages are still held captive.
Efforts continue to negotiate a temporary ceasefire with Hamas to secure the release of half of the remaining hostages, both living and dead. While Hamas has shown willingness for these discussions, it insists on talks aimed at a permanent cessation of hostilities.
