According to reports from Al Jazeera Arabic and Wafa news agency, at least 33 individuals have lost their lives in the latest wave of air raids across the enclave. The northern town of Beit Lahiya witnessed 20 fatalities, while Gaza City, central areas, and southern Khan Younis accounted for the remaining deaths.

In a disturbing escalation, Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, housing the only partially functioning children's ward, has been repeatedly attacked. Director of Nursing Eid Sabbah reported that Israeli jets and drones targeted the hospital, injuring both medics and patients, including children and newborns, over the past two days. The upper floors of the facility sustained significant damage, with medical staff and journalists also among the wounded.

Earlier, Israeli forces conducted a violent raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, detaining dozens of people, including nearly the entire medical staff. This left the hospital critically understaffed, operating with just four doctors and 50 volunteers. The towns surrounding the hospital, such as Beit Lahiya, Jabalia, and Beit Hanoon, have been experiencing intensified military activity over the past month.

Despite enforced displacement orders from the Israeli military, tens of thousands of civilians remain in northern Gaza. Many express fear of moving due to threats from snipers and the risk of attacks in so-called "safe zones" designated by Israel. The military claims its operations aim to prevent the regrouping of Hamas fighters, but the resulting siege has significantly choked the few humanitarian supplies allowed into the area.

Since October, Israel has permitted only a daily average of 30 humanitarian trucks into Gaza, a mere six percent of the pre-war supply, according to Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). Israel recently declared it would end its agreement with UNRWA, alleging some staff participated in the October 7 attacks in Israel. The UN agency warned this could lead to the collapse of aid efforts in Gaza, a move currently under review by UN lawyers.

The United States had previously issued a rare ultimatum to Israel, urging improvements in the humanitarian situation within 30 days or face potential restriction of military aid. As of Monday, US Department of State spokesman Matthew Miller indicated Israel had yet to meet these benchmarks. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reiterated calls for substantial increases in humanitarian aid across Gaza.

Since the conflict escalated on October 7, 2023, at least 43,391 Palestinians have been killed and 102,347 injured. Meanwhile, the initial Hamas-led attacks resulted in 1,139 Israeli deaths and over 200 captives. The situation remains dire, with continued calls for increased humanitarian intervention and de-escalation on all fronts.
