In a significant escalation on the Israeli-Lebanese border, the Israeli military and Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah have engaged in intense fighting, marking the most severe clash in nearly a year. The conflict saw Israel launching a series of airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in explosions that illuminated the night sky in south Lebanon. Concurrently, Hezbollah fired numerous missiles deeper into Israel than it has in almost two decades, triggering sirens and evacuations in northern Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel had dealt significant blows to Hezbollah and emphasized the country's goal to repatriate tens of thousands of displaced Israelis affected by the ongoing conflict. However, Hezbollah announced that it would continue its offensive until Israel halts its operations in Gaza. The group's actions were declared a response to recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon, which led to the death of senior Hezbollah commanders and caused casualties among operatives and civilians.

The conflict intensified as Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets, cruise missiles, and drones towards Israeli territory, with most projectiles originating from Lebanon. The attacks prompted civilians to seek shelter, forcing Israel to close schools and impose restrictions on gatherings in the northern region. Hospitals in the area were instructed to relocate patients and staff to secure locations, with Rambam hospital in Haifa establishing a medical facility in an underground parking garage to accommodate over 1,000 patients, including those on ventilators.
