In a tragic turn of events, at least 13 individuals lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on residential homes in the Nuseirat camp of central Gaza on Saturday. Hospital officials and Gaza's Civil Defense confirmed the toll, which resulted from two separate strikes targeting the camp.

When questioned about the recent strikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by stating that they had targeted terror sites and terrorists in the Nuseirat area, making efforts to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians. They asserted that their military operations were conducted in accordance with international law against the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations, who deliberately operate from civilian infrastructure.

Gaza's Civil Defense further reported that a residential block located south of Nuseirat also suffered the impact of an airstrike, leading to the recovery of three bodies at a nearby hospital. This incident only heightened the fear and anxiety experienced by Nuseirat residents, who described living in constant fear of being bombed amidst worsening humanitarian conditions.

Residents spoke of the dire situation, with Rahma Abu Hajjaj, a mother of five from Nuserirat, sharing her concern about the absence of warnings or alarms before homes are bombed. The indiscriminate targeting of homes left the community in fear and confusion as they struggled to understand the motives behind such attacks.

The Israeli military has previously carried out deadly strikes on Nuseirat, even targeting UN-run schools that were housing displaced people. The Israeli military defended its actions, claiming that their targets were Hamas compounds operating within these schools.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of 37 people and injuries to 54 individuals within the past 24 hours alone. The ministry provided a cumulative figure of 38,919 deaths since October 7, with an additional 89,622 injured. It is important to note that the ministry did not differentiate between civilians and combatants in its casualty count.

The Israeli ground campaign in Gaza was initiated following the October 7 attacks by Hamas, which resulted in the loss of approximately 1,200 lives. The continuous violence has deeply affected the lives of innocent civilians and exacerbates the already fragile humanitarian situation in the region.

As the situation remains tense, the international community continues to call for an immediate end to the violence, urging all parties involved to engage in meaningful dialogue to de-escalate the conflict and protect the lives of innocent civilians trapped in the midst of this tragic situation.
