**Iran-Iraq Conflict Escalates as Missile Strikes and Threats Intensify**
Tensions between Iran and Israel have reached a new peak following a missile strike by Iran on Israel's Nevatim airbase on October 1, 2024. The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), General Ali Fadavi, issued a stark warning, stating that Iran will destroy all of Israel's energy facilities if any new aggression is attempted against its nation.
General Fadavi's remarks, made during an interview with Lebanese television channel Al-Mayadeen, emphasized the potential catastrophic consequences for Israel should it initiate an attack on Iran. "If the occupying entity makes a mistake, we will target all its energy resources, power plants, refineries, and gas fields," Fadavi declared, underscoring Israel’s relatively limited number of key energy infrastructures compared to Iran's vast economic centers.
This announcement follows Iran's extensive missile operation named Operation True Promise II, launched late Tuesday in retaliation for the assassination of prominent figures aligned with Iran. These high-profile assassinations include the killing of former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in April and the killing of former Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah along with Iranian military advisor Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan in September.
During the operation, Iran reportedly fired about 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, claiming that 90 percent of them successfully hit their designated targets. The Israeli authorities have promised a response to the assault, with some officials advocating for strikes on Iran’s nuclear energy sites, oil fields, and other significant scientific and economic targets.
As the cycle of aggression and reprisal continues to unfold, the risk of a broader conflict looms large over the region, with both nations poised for further confrontation.
