In a meeting with Iranian military commanders on Sunday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei praised the country's armed forces for their "success in recent events," referring to the unprecedented direct attack on Israel launched from Iranian territory last week.

During the attack, missiles and drones were launched at Israel, but most of them were intercepted and shot down by Israel and its allies. As a result, the damage inflicted on Israel was relatively modest. However, Khamenei emphasized that the primary focus should not be on the number of missiles launched or their accuracy, but rather on the demonstration of Iran's power during the operation.

Khamenei lauded the armed forces' ability to minimize costs and maximize gains during the attack. He urged military officials to continually pursue military innovation and to familiarize themselves with the tactics employed by the enemy.

The Iranian Supreme Leader emphasized that debates about the exact number of missiles launched or their impact were of secondary importance. During his remarks, which were broadcasted by state television, Khamenei highlighted the need for unity and emphasized the significance of Iran's show of strength.

The meeting was attended by the top ranks of Iran's regular military, police, and the powerful paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), showcasing the united front presented by Iran's military and security forces.

The attack unleashed by Iran was in response to what was suspected to be an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1. The Iranian consulate attack resulted in the death of two IRGC generals, among others.

Notably, Khamenei's comments did not address the apparent Israeli retaliatory strike on the central city of Isfahan on Friday. Although Iran's air defenses were activated, and commercial flights were grounded across a significant portion of the country, the Supreme Leader opted not to discuss this incident.

The recent events and Khamenei's support for the armed forces demonstrate Iran's willingness to assert its power and defend its interests. The developments highlight the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, further fueling speculation about potential future escalations in the region.
