### Iran Vows Retaliation as Tensions with Israel Escalate

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted on Sunday that his nation will take all necessary measures to defend itself against Israel. Speaking on X, Araghchi emphasized that despite Iran’s extensive efforts to prevent a full-scale war in the region, there would be no constraints in safeguarding Iranian people and interests.

This declaration follows Iran's October 1 ballistic missile strike against Israel, which was stated to be in response to the Israeli military's killing of leaders allied with Iran. In response, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned of a "lethal, precise, and especially surprising" retaliation, signaling escalating tensions between the two countries.

In an attempt to mitigate further conflict, Iran’s top diplomat has been actively engaging in diplomatic discussions. On Sunday, Araghchi met with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, in a bid to garner support against the war's expansion into Iran. Hussein reaffirmed Baghdad's opposition to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

During a joint press conference, Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote peace in the region. He stated that while Iran is fully prepared for any potential war, their primary objective remains peace, not conflict.
