Massachusetts State Police detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a tragic dirt bike crash that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Sunday at a motocross track located at 131 Atwood Farm Way in Wareham.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz, Wareham police received a distressing 911 call shortly after 12:35 p.m., reporting a crash involving a solo dirt bike at the Diamond MX motocross track. Wareham police officers, along with emergency medical services personnel and Onset firefighters, promptly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered the 14-year-old victim suffering from severe injuries. Immediate action was taken to provide medical assistance, and the boy was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Tragically, despite their efforts, the young rider was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In a heartfelt message posted on Diamond MX's Facebook page, the motocross track expressed their deep sympathies to the boy's family and all those affected by the tragedy. The post also emphasized their commitment to ensuring a safe riding experience, stating that all necessary safety measures were in place at the time of the incident.

The Wareham Police Department also reported an additional motor vehicle crash involving one of their officers who was en route to the motocross track on Saturday. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Tobey Hospital for treatment. The details surrounding this crash remain under investigation.

The Massachusetts State Police, under the jurisdiction of District Attorney Tim Cruz's office, have taken charge of the investigation into the dirt bike crash. They will analyze the circumstances leading up to the tragic accident in an effort to determine the cause.

In light of this heartbreaking incident, Diamond MX chose to close its doors on Sunday as a mark of respect for the victim's family and the dedicated staff at the motocross track.

As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a young life and hopes for answers to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
