**Viral Sensation "Lieutenant Dan" Faces Backlash and Safety Concerns**

A Florida man named Joseph Malinowski, now famously known as "Lieutenant Dan," has become a controversial internet figure after deciding to endure Hurricanes Helene and Milton from his boat. Despite receiving widespread online attention and significant donations, his daughter, Ashley Ann Malinowski, expressed deep concern for his well-being on TikTok.

Ashley Ann criticized the sudden fame and influx of money, fearing that it will pose a risk to her father's life. She pointed out the concerning impact, stating that he appeared under the influence in recent videos. "His rapid rise to fame will put him in an early grave," she warned.

Joseph Malinowski's decision to stay on his boat amid severe weather gained traction when a local TikTok creator, Terrence Concannon, shared his story. Malinowski, unconcerned about the storms, said his only fear was authorities pressuring him to leave. Tampa officials momentarily moved Malinowski to a shelter, but he returned to his boat the same day.

Concannon's initial intention was to aid Malinowski in securing funds for a new boat and transport. A GoFundMe page he created quickly garnered over $46,000. Video creator Adin Ross offered Malinowski an additional streaming deal plus $50,000 for a new boat. However, Concannon received numerous death threats following these events.

Despite the financial support, transferring the funds to Malinowski has been challenging due to his lack of a government ID. Concannon stated he is collaborating with Tampa Police to resolve this.

Malinowski has a checkered past, including a felony charge in April 2022 and a recent misdemeanor in August for operating a vessel without proper certification. In February 2023, he was involved in a disturbing incident where he allegedly ignited gasoline near a woman during an argument. Although she was unharmed, Malinowski faced house arrest, though the case was dropped for unspecified reasons.

The Independent attempted to contact Malinowski but was unsuccessful. The unfolding situation highlights the potential dangers of sudden internet fame and raises questions about the management of public donations and their impact on individuals' lives.
