In a shocking turn of events, an Indian lawmaker from Karnataka, Prajwal Revanna, who is affiliated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is rumored to have fled to Germany amidst allegations of sexually assaulting or raping as many as 400 women. Revanna, the grandson of former Indian prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda, allegedly escaped after thousands of flash drives containing videos of the alleged abuse were found in public places across the southern state.

The scandal came to light when the videos surfaced, reportedly showing Revanna himself engaging in the heinous acts. The Janata Dal (Secular) or JDS party, which is allied with the BJP, swiftly suspended Revanna following the allegations. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to probe the claims has sought the assistance of Interpol in locating the 33-year-old, who purportedly used a diplomatic passport to leave the country.

In response, an official from Revanna's office vehemently denied the allegations, claiming that the footage had been doctored. However, the accusations have caused political turbulence during India's ongoing general election, with opposition figures seizing the opportunity to attack Modi and the BJP. At a recent rally, the Indian National Congress member Rahul Gandhi labeled the scandal as "not a sex scandal but a mass rape," directly accusing Modi of supporting a "mass rapist." Gandhi further claimed that the PM and his party had formed an alliance with Revanna despite having prior knowledge of the allegations.

The gravity of the situation became even more apparent when a woman who had worked for Revanna filed a police complaint claiming that both the lawmaker and his father, H.D. Revanna, had sexually assaulted her. The elder politician, a legislator in the Karnataka state assembly, denies the claims. However, he was arrested recently in connection with an alleged abduction case involving a maid held captive to prevent her from testifying against his son.

Another woman, who also claims to be a victim of Prajwal Revanna, reported that he had been assaulting her for over three years. She disclosed that he would record the attacks, using the footage as a means to manipulate and threaten her, warning that he would release it on social media if she spoke out about the incidents. Her decision to come forward was motivated by the formation of the SIT, which gave her the courage to overcome her fear.

Before his apparent disappearance, Revanna filed his own complaint stating that the videos being circulated were manipulated to "tarnish his image and poison the minds of voters." The investigation into this high-profile case continues to gather evidence, with the support of international agencies now being sought to locate the fleeing lawmaker.

The shocking allegations have not only sparked public outrage but have also injected fresh controversy into the ongoing Indian general election. As the country awaits further developments, the focus remains on justice for the alleged victims and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
