**Trudeau Faces Intensified Pressure to Resign from Liberal Party Members**

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada is encountering serious pressure from within his own Liberal Party to resign, amid fears that his continued leadership could lead to the party's downfall in the next election. During a private meeting on Wednesday, Trudeau was urged by several party members to step down.

According to reports from Canadian news outlets, around 20 Liberal Party members openly criticized Trudeau's leadership during the closed-door caucus meeting, highlighting growing concerns within the party. The meeting saw most of the 153 Liberal Members of Parliament gather in Ottawa for a scheduled session.

The Liberals, under Trudeau, have been lagging behind the Conservative Party by double digits in polls for over a year. This has raised alarms within the party about the potential for a significant defeat in the next election, which is due by October of next year. The sense of urgency intensified following the recent loss of two special parliamentary elections in traditionally Liberal strongholds.

The mounting dissatisfaction culminated in the presentation of a letter during the meeting, signed by approximately two dozen caucus members, calling for Trudeau's resignation. While the letter had been circulating discreetly for several days, it was read aloud during the extensive three-hour-and-17-minute meeting, triggering a wave of criticism towards the Prime Minister's leadership.

Despite the growing calls for his resignation, Justin Trudeau has indicated that he does not intend to step down from his role.
