In a significant development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully dismantled Hamas' Rafah brigade and eradicated a considerable number of cross-border tunnels on the Philadelphi Corridor. The IDF revealed that its troops from the 162nd Division conducted targeted and intelligence-based operations over the past few months, resulting in the elimination of over 2,000 terrorists.

Reports indicate that Israeli forces have destroyed approximately 8 miles of underground routes along the strategic security corridor that runs parallel to the Egyptian border. This translates to around 80% of all Hamas' tunnels in the area. A map provided by the Israeli Defense Force highlights the presence of Hamas positions along the Philadelphi Corridor.

The Rafah brigade, regarded as one of Hamas' last strongholds, has now been dismantled, as per the Times of Israel. However, Israeli forces remain engaged in operations in the Tel al-Sultan region, just north of the Philadelphi Corridor, where additional tunnels are being located and eliminated.

During an operation launched a couple of weeks ago in the Tel A-Sultan area, Commander Mahmoud Hamdan, along with 250 other Hamas terrorists, were killed, further weakening their influence in the region. The IDF remains resolute in its efforts to neutralize any remaining threats to national security.

The Philadelphi Corridor has become a contentious point of discussion as the United States, alongside Qatar and Egypt, seeks to establish a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Unfortunately, negotiations have stalled due to Hamas' insistence that Israeli forces must withdraw from the security corridor in Gaza. Israel, on the other hand, refuses to vacate the area, citing security concerns both from Hamas within Gaza and potential threats from the Sinai Peninsula.

Securing the release of all hostages held by Hamas is of utmost importance to Israel. Authorities, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have expressed concerns that hostages could be smuggled out of Gaza through the Sinai Peninsula and fall into the hands of Iranian operatives.

Brig. Gen. Itzik Cohen, the commander of the 162nd Division, disclosed that his troops have discovered a total of 203 interconnected tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor. Out of these, nine tunnels crossed over into Egypt. It is noteworthy that all nine tunnels had been rendered inoperable prior to their discovery by IDF soldiers, either by the Egyptian or the Hamas forces.

The IDF is currently conducting thorough investigations into the remaining tunnels and will neutralize them once the searches are complete. The operation's success in dismantling the Rafah brigade and eliminating significant portions of the tunnels underscores the IDF's commitment to ensuring the security of the region and its people.

As tensions persist, further updates are awaited regarding efforts to establish a cease-fire agreement and secure the release of all hostages. The situation along the Philadelphi Corridor remains a noteworthy discussion point, as stakeholders work towards a resolution that addresses the concerns of all parties involved.
