### House Speaker Condemns Bomb Threats Targeting Democrats Over Thanksgiving Recess

In a press release on Saturday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) strongly condemned a series of bomb threats that targeted House and Senate Democrats from New England during the Thanksgiving recess. These threats have left many members of Congress feeling increasingly vulnerable amidst a climate of escalating political violence.

"This is dangerous and insane behavior," Johnson stated regarding the bomb threats in a post on the social media platform X. The alarming incidents have particularly affected nearly the entire Connecticut delegation, all but one of whom were targeted by threats on Thanksgiving morning.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) responded on Friday, calling for "maximum protection" for Congress members and their families. His call for heightened security follows not only the recent threats against the Connecticut delegation but also similar threats aimed at former Trump administration appointees.

Additionally, several Democratic lawmakers from Rhode Island reported being targeted by bomb threats during the same period. This disturbing trend highlights the perilous environment that public officials are increasingly facing.

Lawmakers have endured years of heightened threats, startling security incidents, aggressive protests, and even assassination attempts. This wave of bomb threats is yet another chapter in the unsettling narrative of political violence, pushing many members of Congress to adapt to a new reality where personal and professional risks are ever-present.

The Capitol Police has chosen not to disclose specific details about the bomb threats, citing concerns about potential "copy-cat" attempts. As the threat landscape continues to evolve, the safety of America's political representatives remains a pressing concern for the nation's leadership.
