In a significant move, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), House Committee on the Judiciary Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and House Committee on Ways and Means Jason Smith (R-Mo.) have collectively sent criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, recommending charges against Hunter and James Biden. The charges include making false statements to Congress regarding key aspects of the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

The House Republicans' criminal referrals allege that Hunter and James Biden deliberately made false statements, implicating President Biden's knowledge and involvement in their family's influence peddling schemes. The intent, it is claimed, was to shield Joe Biden from the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

According to Chairman Comer, their investigation has revealed evidence that President Biden was aware of, participated in, and benefitted from his family's exploitation of the Biden name for financial gain on an international scale. Despite this evidence, President Biden continues to deny any involvement in these influence peddling schemes, leading to suspicions of false statements being a recurring pattern within the Biden family.

Chairman Jordan, emphasizing the seriousness of lying to Congress, stated that both Hunter and James Biden had engaged in such behavior to hide President Biden's connection to their family's international influence peddling activities. These criminal referrals reflect the allegations of criminal wrongdoing by the Biden family, and it is now expected that the Department of Justice will take appropriate action to hold them accountable.

The impeachment inquiry aims to investigate President Biden's role and knowledge of his family's international influence peddling schemes, which are reported to have generated over $18 million for Biden family members and their affiliated companies. When including payments made to their business associates, the figure rises to over $27 million. Additionally, the investigation has uncovered approximately $8 million in loans, most of which have not been repaid by Hunter and James Biden, with no legitimate services to warrant such substantial payments.

Chairman Smith echoed the sentiments of his colleagues, affirming that President Biden's Department of Justice should put the principle that "no one is above the law" to the test. The House Republicans believe that the evidence provided by IRS whistleblowers shows that Hunter Biden broke the law and lied to Congress during his deposition. It is argued that lying to Congress to obstruct an ongoing congressional investigation is a serious offense. Failure on the part of the Department of Justice to act on the criminal referrals would, in their view, perpetuate the notion of a two-tiered justice system—one for the wealthy and politically connected, and another for everyone else.

The specific false statements identified in the criminal referrals include Hunter Biden's false statements during his deposition regarding his position at Rosemont Seneca Bohai (RSB). The committees have obtained documents that demonstrate Hunter Biden falsely represented being the corporate secretary of RSB, a corporate entity that received millions of dollars from foreign individuals and entities with ties to then-Vice President Biden.

Additionally, Hunter Biden's testimony included a fabricated account of threatening text messages sent to his Chinese business partner, allegedly while invoking his father's presence. However, documents released by the Committee on Ways and Means have disproven this claim, revealing that Hunter Biden did send the threats to the intended individual, and subsequent bank records verify that his Chinese business partners wired millions of dollars to his company following the threat. Some of the funds have reportedly been traced to Joe Biden's bank account.

During James Biden's interview, he asserted that Joe Biden did not meet with Tony Bobulinski, a business associate of the Biden brothers, in 2017 while pursuing a deal with a Chinese entity. However, Mr. Bobulinski contradicted James Biden's statement by producing text messages that establish the events leading up to and following his meeting with Joe Biden on May 2, 2017.

The criminal referrals have been addressed to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, as well as Special Counsel and U.S. Attorney David Weiss. These referrals mark a crucial step for House Republicans in their efforts to hold the Bidens accountable for their alleged exploitation of public office. It is emphasized that this is just the beginning of their pursuit of justice in this matter.

The full letter sent to the Department of Justice, along with the criminal referrals, can be accessed for further scrutiny and review.
