In a shocking turn of events early Monday morning, a hotel desk clerk at The Shoal La Jolla Beach hotel in California stabbed a guest before making a dramatic escape and driving his car off a nearby pier. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Aaron Tran, was later found dead in San Diego Bay with self-inflicted wounds, according to the San Diego police.

Authorities revealed that prior to the incident, Tran had checked two guests into their room at the hotel. Later, he allegedly contacted them claiming there was a water leak next door and that he needed to enter their room. Seizing the opportunity, Tran handed one of the women his phone, which displayed a disturbing message on the screen. As she looked up, she was confronted by Tran brandishing a knife.

In a frantic bid to escape, the women managed to break free from Tran's grip. However, not before one of them sustained a stab wound in the upper chest. The injured woman was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and subsequently released.

Simultaneously, Tran fled the premises in a Honda Accord, driving at high speeds through the streets of La Jolla. He eventually reached the end of a pier, crashing the car into the water with such force that eyewitnesses described it as a terrifyingly swift plunge. One witness, Gio Martinez, recalled the harrowing incident, "80 miles an hour, they just went straight into the water. It did not stop. That thing was like 10 feet away from my brother. Everything was crazy. Everything happened really fast."

Authorities suspect that Tran likely drowned while remaining inside the submerged vehicle. His lifeless body was recovered from the bay shortly after the crash. Investigation into the incident is ongoing, as law enforcement officials and local authorities seek to uncover the motive behind the shocking attack.

Tran had been employed at The Shoal La Jolla Beach hotel for approximately six months, with no previous criminal record. The hotel management has declined to comment on the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.

As the community grapples with the disturbing events that unfolded at the La Jolla hotel, questions remain unanswered. Residents and guests are left wondering how and why such a tragedy could occur within the tranquil seaside town. The San Diego police have assured the public that they are giving the case their utmost attention and will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
