Hit-and-Run Motorcyclist Suspect Arrested in Warwick

In a late-night incident on Saturday, a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV occurred on West Shore Road in Warwick. The Warwick Police quickly responded to the scene, where they found the injured motorcyclist, described as a 43-year-old Warwick resident, lying on the ground in the eastbound lane.
Captain Robert T. Hart stated that the victim was conscious but had sustained a traumatic head injury, causing heavy bleeding. He was promptly transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he currently remains in critical condition. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Witnesses at the scene provided crucial assistance to the officers, who were able to locate the suspect and the heavily damaged SUV a short distance away from the crash site. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Carrie Lyn White from Johnston, displayed signs of impairment and was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Warwick Police promptly arrested White and levied several charges against her, including DUI resulting in serious bodily injury, duty to stop resulting in serious injury, driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or greater.
As of now, the identity of the victim is being withheld until the family is notified. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the crash to reach out to the Warwick Traffic Unit at 401-468-4200.
