In a recent announcement, Arrowhead, the developer of Helldivers 2, addressed concerns regarding unscrupulous hosts kicking fireteam members from the lobby just before they could secure their rewards. Community manager Twinbeard assured players that a solution is in the works to mitigate this issue.

The suggestion for compensating players who are kicked out of a lobby was brought up by the community. They proposed that players should keep 50 percent of the samples collected if they are kicked by a hostile lobby leader when the dropship has been called. Twinbeard acknowledged the validity of the question, considering that griefing incidents do occur in the game.

"We're actually working on a solution to mitigate problems with, well, 'getting kicked by an arsehole lobby leader' as someone once eloquently put it," Twinbeard reassured players in the game's Discord community. However, no estimated time of arrival (ETA) was given for when this solution would be implemented.

The proposal drew inspiration from Deep Rock Galactic, another game that guarantees players 25 percent of the experience points and materials they accumulate in a mission, even if they are kicked from the lobby.

Another community suggestion discussed the implementation of a reputation system in Helldivers 2. This system would enable players to give out reputational awards at the end of matches. The aim would be to match like-minded and cooperative players together, while trolls and griefers would be grouped with each other.

Despite the initial success of Helldivers 2, which could potentially make it PlayStation's fastest-selling game ever, player numbers have seen a decline. Steam charts indicate a steady drop since the game's launch in February. The peak concurrent players reached 458,709 shortly after release, but over the past 30 days, the peak has dropped to 166,305, indicating a significant decrease of 64 percent.

One possible explanation for this decline could be the PSN debacle that unfolded earlier this month. In May, Sony, the publisher of Helldivers 2, announced that players on Steam would be required to link their PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts to continue playing. This decision was met with widespread disappointment, leading to numerous negative reviews from the community. Additionally, the game was pulled from sale in 177 countries where PSN was not available, forcing Sony to backtrack on their plans.

Arrowhead's dedication to addressing player concerns and finding solutions to issues such as unfair lobby kicking shows their commitment to providing an enjoyable gaming experience for Helldivers 2's community. Players can look forward to future updates that aim to create a fair and inclusive environment where teamwork and cooperation are celebrated.
