### Harris and Cheney Join Forces in Critical Swing States to Oppose Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris is hitting the campaign trail next week with a high-profile ally: former Republican Representative Liz Cheney. The duo aims to shore up support in key suburban battleground states, specifically Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This strategic collaboration underscores a bipartisan effort to oppose former President Donald Trump's bid to reclaim the presidency.

Harris and Cheney will conduct a series of "moderated conversations" targeting suburban voters. The events will be moderated by seasoned Republican strategists Sarah Longwell, publisher of The Bulwark, and conservative radio host Charlie Sykes. The campaign has lined up engagements in Chester County, Philadelphia; Oakland County, Detroit; and Waukesha County, Milwaukee. Notably, the Milwaukee event will occur just before early in-person voting commences in Wisconsin.

Cheney, once a rising star within the GOP and daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has been a vocal critic of Trump since the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. She was one of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for inciting the violence. Her stance led to her ousting from her No. 3 leadership position within the House GOP and ultimate defeat in the 2022 Republican primary in Wyoming to Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman.

Speaking at Duke University in North Carolina, a crucial swing state, Cheney recently announced her support for Harris in the upcoming election, emphasizing the existential threat she believes Trump poses to the nation's democratic foundations. Her backing adds significant weight, as she has consistently vocalized the importance of prioritizing country over party.

Harris's campaign has garnered support from over 200 alumni of the Bush administrations, as well as from associates of late Senator John McCain and Senator Mitt Romney. Furthermore, her endorsement list includes more than 100 former national security officials and prominent Republicans. This coalition aims to appeal to disaffected Republican voters wary of a Trump return.

In response, the Trump campaign has dismissed the bipartisan effort to support Harris, with spokesperson Kush Desai criticizing former Republicans for aiding the opposing party. Desai asserted that these figures would be discarded by Democrats once the election ends, expressing confidence in Trump's re-election.

As the campaign heats up, the alliance between Harris and Cheney highlights the growing intra-party rifts within the GOP and underscores a broader, cross-party push to prevent Trump from regaining the presidency.
