In a recent turn of events, 2024 Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was among the more than 100 individuals arrested at a protest held at Washington University in St. Louis. Stein's campaign manager, Jason Call, confirmed the arrests, stating that he, Stein, and deputy campaign manager Kelly Merrill-Cayer were taken into custody at the encampment on the university campus.

The demonstration at Washington University was specifically aimed at pressuring the institution to divest from Boeing, a company known for manufacturing munitions used in the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has been deemed a genocide against the Palestinian people. The demand for divestment from Boeing was a central focus of the encampment, according to Call in his statement to Fox News Digital.

The Stein campaign expressed its support for the students' demands and their peaceful protest, emphasizing that such actions embody the best part of our collective moral conscience. Stein's arrest coincides with a surge in anti-Israel protests across the country, which has unfortunately been accompanied by a rise in incidents of antisemitism as well.

The protest at Washington University is just one of many demonstrations taking place this week at college campuses nationwide. Columbia University witnessed over 100 arrests, while the University of Texas saw dozens of individuals taken into custody during protests held on Wednesday. Similar demonstrations and protests have occurred at other prestigious institutions such as Yale, Harvard, Minnesota, Johns Hopkins, and Arizona State University, where 93 people were arrested on Saturday morning.

The escalating protests reflect a growing sentiment among some students and activists who are calling attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, the rise in incidents of antisemitism is a concerning development that universities and society at large must address.

As the situation unfolds, the Green Party and its supporters stand in solidarity with the protesters, highlighting the significance of peaceful assembly and the pursuit of peace and civil liberties. The actions taken by these students are a testament to their dedication to championing causes they believe in, and they serve as a reminder of the power of collective voices in bringing about change.
