**GOP Leaders Criticize Kamala Harris for Calling Trump a 'Fascist' Amid Escalating Rhetoric**

As the election draws closer, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have spotlighted what they consider "dangerous rhetoric" from Vice President Kamala Harris. This comes despite former President Donald Trump's increasingly incendiary comments.

The friction escalated after Harris echoed sentiments expressed by Trump's former chief of staff, John Kelly, classifying Trump as a "fascist." In a joint statement, Johnson and McConnell condemned Harris, accusing her of making "reckless invocations of the darkest evil of the 20th century." They urged her to desist from such rhetoric, suggesting it could incite violence and potentially lead to another assassination attempt on Trump.

"Labeling a political opponent as a 'fascist' risks inviting yet another would-be assassin to try robbing voters of their choice before Election Day," the GOP leaders warned.

Interestingly, Johnson and McConnell's rebuke of Harris starkly contrasts their silence on Trump's own inflammatory language. Over the past week, Trump has labeled Harris in harsh terms, calling her "dumb," "stupid," "a s--- vice president," a "lunatic," and even insinuated she has a substance abuse problem—all without eliciting any public reprimand from GOP leadership. Trump himself has labeled Harris a "fascist" during the campaign, a claim that went unchallenged by his party leaders.

This selective criticism from Johnson and McConnell mirrors a broader trend where Republicans often dismiss or overlook Trump's provocative statements. On her part, Harris has stood firm, responding to the GOP leaders by stating that "no one should be the subject of violence, much less political violence."
