In a disheartening turn of events at UFC Vegas 97, Gilbert Burns experienced his third consecutive loss as he fell to Sean Brady in a unanimous decision. The Brazilian welterweight contender expressed his disappointment with himself for not executing his gameplan effectively during the fight.

Although Burns showcased moments of success both on his feet and in scrambles, it was ultimately insufficient to secure victory against the dominant performance displayed by Brady. Surprisingly, Burns was outstruck in every round and controlled for more than 10 minutes, leading to the judges' scorecards unanimously favoring the inked-up American with scores of 50-45, 50-45, and 49-26.

Following the fight, a dejected Burns spoke to ESPN MMA correspondent Charly Arnolt, expressing his frustration with his own performance. He acknowledged feeling great throughout his training camp and the fight week, but admitted that things didn't go as planned in the octagon.

"I'm a little bit disappointed. I know I have the grit, and I know that I can fight hard, but I didn't let it go... It just didn't flow," lamented Burns. He credited Brady's speed and effective takedowns while admitting that he failed to capitalize on opportunities to finish the fight. Despite landing significant shots on his opponent, Burns confessed that he forced the finish without proper setup.

The former title challenger recognized that the most disheartening aspect of the loss was his inability to implement the gameplan. He emphasized the importance of analyzing his mistakes with his coaches and returning to the gym to improve.

At 38 years old and with a three-fight losing streak, Burns is uncertain about his next move in the welterweight division. However, he mentioned his intention to take some time off with his family before regrouping and making a decision regarding his future in the sport.

Burns had entered UFC Vegas 97 as the sixth-ranked welterweight contender, but with this defeat, it is likely that he will see a drop in the rankings in the upcoming update.

The outcome of the fight left Burns disappointed but determined to return to the drawing board and emerge stronger. As he begins his analysis of the fight and works on rectifying his mistakes, fans eagerly anticipate his next move in the highly competitive welterweight division.
