In a tragic incident, four people were killed and three others were left wounded after a shooting that took place during a party at a home in Florence, Kentucky. The suspect responsible for the shooting later died after a vehicle pursuit that ended in an accident, according to local police.

The authorities were alerted to the shooting when they heard gunshots upon arriving at the residence in Florence around 2:50 a.m. Jeff Mallery, the city's police chief, revealed during a news conference that a total of seven individuals had been shot at the location. Sadly, four of them were discovered deceased.

The three surviving victims were transported to a hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, in critical condition. Fortunately, they are expected to recover from their injuries, as stated by Chief Mallery.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, leading police on a chase. The pursuit came to an unfortunate end when the suspect's car veered off the road and toppled into a ditch. Authorities discovered the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and he was subsequently pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

According to Chief Mallery, the gathering was organized to celebrate the 21st birthday of the homeowner's son. Tragically, the homeowner also lost their life in the incident. The suspect, a 20-year-old individual, reportedly had some familiarity with people at the party, despite not being officially invited.

"This is the first time that we've had a mass shooting in Florence," expressed Chief Mallery, acknowledging the emotional impact of such a tragic event. He extended his sympathies to the victims, their families, the responding officers, and all those affected by this devastating situation.

Florence, where the incident occurred, is located approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Cincinnati, Ohio.
