In a recent development, former child star Tom Guiry, known for his role as Scotty Smalls in the beloved film "The Sandlot," has been arrested and charged with assault and battery in South Carolina. According to the Horry County Sheriff's Office, Guiry also faces charges of malicious injury to personal property.

Guiry was taken into custody on June 2, following an incident where he allegedly threw a dumbbell into his neighbor's jeep, shattering the windshield. The police report, obtained by WBTW, states that Guiry admitted to the act and expressed remorse, vowing to make amends.

Appearing in court on Monday, Guiry pleaded guilty to the charges, which also included an additional count of disorderly conduct. The former child star was ordered to pay $757 in fines and was credited with time already served. WBTW reports that Guiry's representative did not provide immediate comment on the incident.

Details from the police report further reveal the intense nature of the confrontation between Guiry and his neighbor. The neighbor reportedly confronted Guiry after discovering the damage caused to their vehicle, to which Guiry allegedly responded with apologies and promises to compensate for the damages. The incident escalated, with the neighbor claiming that Guiry confronted him while holding a knife, following the neighbor's wife into their garage.

As this story continues to unfold, Fox News Digital has reached out to the Horry County solicitor's office for comment. Additionally, further details may be provided by the Horry County Sheriff's Department.

Although "The Sandlot" brought Guiry fame and recognition alongside his co-stars Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, Marty York, Chauncey Leopardi, Brandon Quintin Adams, Grant Gelt, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, and James Earl Jones, this recent incident has unfortunately overshadowed his acting achievements.
