In a fiery response to former Rep. Adam Kinzinger's criticism of former President Donald Trump during his speech at the Democratic National Convention, Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, told Kinzinger to "sit the hell down." Habba's remarks came during an interview on Newsmax, where she expressed frustration with what she called "fake nonsense" and expressed her bewilderment at Kinzinger's words.

Kinzinger, who was once a staunch Trump supporter and rising star within the GOP, made headlines by joining the select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. During his prime-time speech at the DNC, he denounced the attack and Trump's role in it, describing the former president as a "weak man pretending to be strong" and a "perpetrator who can't stop playing the victim."

Habba, angered by Kinzinger's speech, proclaimed that she was voting him off the island and criticized him for betraying the country. She dismissed his efforts on the committee, deeming his speech at the convention a "career killer." Habba expressed her disbelief that Kinzinger was given a prominent speaking slot just before Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage, suggesting it was a strategic move by the Harris campaign to involve anti-Trump Republicans.

While other notable GOP figures, such as North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, also spoke before Harris, Habba emphasized that Kinzinger's presence as a Republican speaker was a deliberate choice made by the campaign. She questioned why Harris couldn't secure a more prominent Republican figure to address the audience.

The inclusion of Kinzinger in the DNC lineup reflects the effort to broaden the convention's appeal by incorporating voices from across the political spectrum. However, Habba's scathing criticism highlights the ongoing divide within the Republican Party and the heated debates surrounding Trump's legacy and accountability for the events of January 6th.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the clash between former Trump loyalists and Republicans who have distanced themselves from him shows no signs of dissipating. With the 2022 midterms on the horizon, the divisions within the party could significantly impact the GOP's electoral prospects and shape the future direction of American politics.
