### Trump Advocates for Military Action Against 'Radical Left Lunatics' on Election Day
In a provocative statement, former President Donald Trump has proposed utilizing the military to address what he describes as "the enemy from within" on Election Day. Speaking to Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures," Trump emphasized that he is not concerned about potential disruptions from his supporters or foreign actors. Instead, he singled out "radical left lunatics" as the primary threat.
"I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people. Radical left lunatics," Trump asserted during the interview. He suggested that deploying the National Guard or, if necessary, the military would be an appropriate response to handle these individuals.
The former president, who has faced intense scrutiny since his supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, downplayed concerns about violence from his voter base. "No, I don't think - not from the side that votes for Trump," Trump responded when Bartiromo inquired about the likelihood of chaos from his supporters. When the conversation shifted to potential threats from foreign actors or undocumented immigrants, Trump redirected the focus to his political adversaries on the left.
"The bigger problem is the enemy from within, not even the people that have come in and are destroying our country, by the way, totally destroying our country, the towns, the villages, they're being inundated," Trump stated. His comments continue a pattern of using harsh language to attack immigrants, whom he has frequently criticized.
Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign quickly reacted to Trump's remarks, expressing alarm and urging all Americans to take notice. "Trump is suggesting that his fellow Americans are worse 'enemies' than foreign adversaries, and he is saying he would use the military against them," Ian Sams, a senior spokesperson and adviser for the campaign, said in a statement. Sams also referenced Trump's previous controversial statements, including his desire to assume a dictatorial role and his calls to "terminate" the Constitution.
Since the January 6 insurrection, Trump has consistently denied any misconduct and has attempted to shift the blame for the riot onto others, including Democrats. Despite facing federal and state charges for interfering in the 2020 election in Washington, DC, and Georgia, respectively, Trump has entered not guilty pleas.
Looking ahead, Trump has been laying the groundwork to cast doubt on the integrity of the 2024 election. He has threatened prosecution and "long-term prison sentences" for election officials and political operatives whom he suspects of cheating. Furthermore, he has hinted that he would use the justice system to target his political opponents if he is re-elected.
