In response to multiple sources claiming that former President Donald Trump intends to stay in Chicago and commute to Milwaukee for the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) in July, his campaign has denied these allegations.
A high-ranking law enforcement source, who is privy to the decision but not authorized to comment publicly, revealed to ABC7 Political Reporter Craig Wall that Trump plans to stay in Chicago and travel to Milwaukee for the convention. A second source confirmed this arrangement, while a third source stated that the former president is indeed making plans to reside in Chicago during the RNC.
However, Karoline Leavitt, the national press secretary for the Trump campaign, swiftly responded to ABC7's inquiry, asserting that "The president is planning to stay in Milwaukee for the Convention."
Tuesday sees Trump on the campaign trail in Racine, Wisconsin, just days after reportedly criticizing Milwaukee as "horrible" in a closed-door meeting. These remarks come shortly before the upcoming RNC, where Republicans will gather to officially nominate Trump for the third time in eight years.
The Trump campaign defended the former president's alleged comment, stating that it was in reference to crime and voter fraud. Nevertheless, Trump clarified his stance to a Fox News reporter, expressing his love for Milwaukee and acknowledging his friends in the city, but also criticizing crime rates and the management of elections.
As the speculation surrounding Trump's accommodation plans in Chicago during the RNC continues, it remains to be seen where the former president will ultimately stay during the convention.
