In a recent social media post, former Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.) sparked controversy by questioning whether his former colleagues would draft an expulsion resolution against current Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-Texas). Santos specifically directed his message at Representative Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), but also mentioned Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who played a role in Santos' own expulsion from the House last year.

Santos' tweet read, "Hey @RitchieTorres, are you going to draft an expulsion resolution for Henry Cuellar? Or is that just for Republicans who flip seats? Inquiring minds want to know." The post highlighted Santos' frustration over what he perceives as a double standard when it comes to the expulsion process.

Previously, in February of last year, Garcia, Torres, and three other Democratic representatives unveiled a resolution to expel Santos from the House. This resolution eventually culminated in Santos becoming the sixth lawmaker ever to be ousted from the lower chamber.

In response to Santos' latest remarks, the former congressman took aim at Garcia, questioning whether he would initiate a similar expulsion resolution against Cuellar. Santos wrote, "So here's the thing... is miss thang @RepRobertGarcia going to draft an expulsion resolution for Henry Cuellar? Inquiring minds want to know."

The exchange between Santos and his former colleagues has ignited a debate, with some claiming it highlights the partisan nature of expulsions within the House of Representatives. Others see it as an opportunity to question the consistency and fairness of the process itself.

While expulsion from the House remains a rare occurrence, these recent developments have once again brought attention to the power and implications of such a dramatic step. The issue also raises questions about the criteria for initiating an expulsion resolution and whether consistency is being applied across party lines.

As of now, it remains to be seen how Representative Torres and Garcia, among others, will respond to Santos' call for an expulsion resolution against Representative Cuellar. The potential outcome will undoubtedly shape the ongoing dialogue surrounding the expulsion process and its implications for political accountability.

In the coming days, it is expected that further discussions and debates will take place in the public and political spheres regarding the possibility of expelling Congressman Cuellar, intensifying the scrutiny on this matter as people continue to express their views on the issue.
