In a shocking turn of events, the former athletic director at Pikesville High School has been arrested for his alleged involvement in an AI-generated impersonation of the school's principal, Eric Eiswert. Dazhon Darien now faces multiple charges, including disturbing school activities, retaliation, stalking, and theft, according to charging documents obtained by 11 News.
The incident began when an audio clip, purportedly a race-based commentary on the school's students and teachers, surfaced on social media. This led to the temporary removal of Principal Eiswert from his position and unleashed a wave of hate-filled messages and numerous calls to the school.
Principal Eiswert suspected Darien as the person responsible for the clip, based on his belief that Darien possessed technical expertise and knowledge of AI. Moreover, tensions had been exacerbated by Darien's contract not being renewed due to alleged work-performance issues.
Authorities' investigation found a connection between the email account that sent the original audio clip and Darien. As a result, Darien was apprehended Wednesday night at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport while en route to Houston. His arrest occurred after Maryland Transportation Authority police questioned the packaging of a firearm he had declared, ultimately discovering the warrant issued against him.
The charges against Darien, including disturbing of school activities, retaliation, stalking, and theft, highlight the severity of the alleged actions and their impact on the school community. As this story develops, further updates will be provided.
