In a shocking incident, a Florida surgeon has been charged in connection with his wife's death after she went into cardiac arrest on his operating table. Benjamin Brown, 41, was arrested on Monday on a homicide and negligent manslaughter charge, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's office.

The unfortunate event took place at the Restore Plastic Surgery clinic in Gulf Breeze on November 21, 2023. Benjamin Brown was performing multiple procedures on his wife, Hillary Brown, when she suddenly became unresponsive and started having a seizure.

Deputies quickly responded to the medical emergency and Hillary Brown was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was put on life support. Despite the medical efforts, she tragically passed away a week later.

Following an extensive investigation conducted alongside the District One Medical Examiner's Office and the State Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office determined that Dr. Benjamin Brown should be charged. The details of the investigation led them to request an arrest warrant for him.

Interestingly, this is not the only recent development involving Benjamin Brown. In May, the Florida Department of Health filed a document seeking to restrict his medical license in the state. The health department revealed that Benjamin Brown had performed several procedures on Hillary Brown that day, including scar revision, arm liposuction, lip injections, and ear adjustments.

Disturbingly, it was discovered that Benjamin Brown did not accurately document the contents of the IV bag used during the procedures. Additionally, the pills that Hillary Brown allegedly took prior to the surgery were not documented at all.

According to the health department, Hillary Brown experienced restlessness and twitching in her feet during the procedures. She also complained to her husband about blurred vision and seeing an orange hue. Shockingly, when a medical assistant questioned whether 911 should be called, Benjamin Brown reportedly responded with either a firm "no" or to "wait."

The arrest warrant reveals that a concerned employee stated that Benjamin Brown was asked multiple times about contacting emergency services, but he insisted on handling the situation himself. It was only about 10 to 20 minutes after Hillary Brown's seizure that Benjamin Brown finally asked an assistant to call 911.

Hillary Brown was subsequently transported to a trauma center by emergency responders, displaying elevated lactic acid levels and suspected lidocaine toxicity. Sadly, she never regained consciousness and passed away on November 28, 2023.

Following his arrest, Benjamin Brown was booked into the Santa Rosa County Detention Facility on Monday. He was later released on a $50,000 bond, as confirmed by online records.

This tragic incident has left the community shocked and raises questions about the actions and negligence of a medical professional. The legal proceedings will continue as authorities aim to bring justice to Hillary Brown and her family.
