In a recent incident at the Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah, a fireworks malfunction resulted in injuries to several individuals. The Provo Fire Department expressed sympathy for those affected while commending their quick medical response, which they credited to their ongoing training.
Reports indicate that the mishap occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, when fireworks were accidentally shot into the stadium stands. Provo Fire Search & Rescue crews, along with medical personnel from Brigham Young University, promptly responded to the scene. The coordinated event staffing facilitated a swift assistance to those injured.
Lynn Schofield, Provo City Fire Marshal, emphasized the importance of their state-of-the-art emergency operations center in preparing for such incidents. Through constant practice and coordination with Brigham Young University, they ensure a timely and effective response when emergencies arise. Schofield stated, "We never want an incident such as this to happen, but we prepare by planning and coordinating so that if it does, we ensure a timely, effective response."
Provo Fire & Rescue has taken the lead in investigating the incident. Officials have announced that additional details will be shared once a thorough investigation is completed. Their main focus, however, remains the injured and their speedy and complete recovery.
