### FBI Warns of Deceptive Efforts Targeting Voters Ahead of 2024 Election
The FBI has issued a warning to voters regarding deceptive activities ahead of the 2024 election. According to a recent press release from November 5, the agency has been impersonated in at least two fabricated videos intended to undermine Americans' faith in the electoral process.
One of the fake videos involved the misuse of the FBI's name and insignia to produce a fraudulent news clip. This clip falsely claimed that the FBI had issued a high terror threat, suggesting that Americans should "vote remotely." The FBI clarified that this video is not genuine and does not reflect current threat levels or polling station safety.
Additionally, another counterfeit video alleged that the management of prisons in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona had rigged inmate voting and colluded with a political party. The FBI emphasized that these claims are also false.
"Election integrity is among our highest priorities," the agency stated, adding that it is collaborating closely with state and local law enforcement partners to address election threats and safeguard communities during the voting period. The attempts to spread false information regarding FBI activities aim to destabilize the democratic process and diminish trust in the electoral system.
The Department of Justice informed Fox News that Attorney General Merrick Garland would receive daily briefings on threats from the FBI, with continuous updates throughout the day from his law enforcement and national security teams. Garland also planned to visit the FBI's National Election Command Post for further updates.
This warning follows an alert from the FBI and the Intelligence Community (IC) about efforts by foreign adversaries, particularly Russia and Iran, to erode public trust in the electoral process. The IC observed that Russia has been particularly active in trying to undermine confidence in the integrity of U.S. elections and incite divisions among Americans.
Russian entities have been accused of creating videos and fake news stories to suggest election fraud and violence among Americans over political disagreements. A specific instance involves a fabricated video claiming election fraud in Arizona to favor Vice President Kamala Harris, which has been debunked by the Arizona secretary.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) warned that these deceptive videos risk inciting violence, including against election officials. Furthermore, entities in Iran have been accused of conducting malicious cyber activities aimed at compromising former President Trump's campaign, motivated by a desire for retribution stemming from the 2020 death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force commander Qasem Solemani.
The FBI, ODNI, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency have underscored these malign activities as serious threats to the U.S. electoral system. Each organization remains vigilant, working to counteract these deceptive efforts and preserve the integrity of the upcoming election.
