In a shocking development, Kashaan Parks, a 39-year-old father, has been named as the suspect in a brutal lasso rape case that occurred in the South Bronx. The incident, which took place on May 1, came to light nine days later, when the victim reported the assault to the police.

According to the NYPD, the 45-year-old woman was walking near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue around 3 a.m. when Parks allegedly crept up behind her. Startling security footage shows Parks lassoing the victim's neck with a belt, causing her to lose consciousness. He then sexually assaulted her, leaving her traumatized and battered.

Photos of Parks on social media show a seemingly loving father and partner, often captured playing with his young daughter or smiling with his partner. The stark contrast between his online persona and the heinous crime he is accused of committing has left many shocked and appalled.

While the incident was captured on surveillance video, it took some time for authorities to become aware of the situation. The victim did not immediately report the attack, and it was only when she was arrested for petty larceny that officers discovered what had occurred. She cooperated with law enforcement and identified Parks as her assailant, noting his distinctive teeth as a telltale identifying feature.

Thus far, no official arrest has been made, but the NYPD informed DailyMail.com that Parks may turn himself in. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with detectives analyzing the footage and gathering additional evidence to build a case against him.

This tragic incident is not an isolated case of sexual assault in New York City. In a similar incident last month, a man assaulted a 23-year-old woman in a Manhattan apartment building, threatening her with a firearm. Another incident involved a Bronx man forcibly entering a woman's home and assaulting her. The perpetrator, identified as Malik Crocker, remains at large according to jail records.

Despite these troubling cases, overall reported rapes in the Bronx are slightly down compared to the same period last year, with 141 incidents reported through May 5, compared to 148 in 2022. However, every case represents a life forever altered, and it serves as a reminder of the work that remains to be done to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

As the investigation into the lasso rape case continues, the community awaits justice, hoping for closure and support for the victim.
