0 update. Developed by Wube Software, this expansive new addition to the popular factory-automating game is sure to offer players plenty of content for their money.

Last summer, Wube unveiled details about the Space Age expansion, which includes the introduction of five new planets, each with their own unique resources and technologies to explore. Players will have the ability to build space platforms to transport cargo between planets, but will need to defend these platforms from destructive asteroids.

The planets in the expansion offer diverse environments and gameplay experiences. Vulcanus, a volcanic planet, introduces Tungsten for new metallurgic technologies and allows players to use lava to smelt iron and copper. Fulgora, a desolate planet marked by lightning storms, can harness electrical power with the help of the new material, Holmium. The expansion also features Gleba, a swampy planet abundant with fruit and biochemicals, and teases a mysterious fifth planet that promises innovative gameplay in a dark and cold landscape.

In addition to the new planets, the Space Age expansion brings elevated train tracks to help players navigate challenging terrains and enhanced defense mechanisms against new enemies. The expansion also introduces quality tiers for items, entities, and equipment, providing various bonuses as players progress through five levels from Normal quality to Legendary.

Wube Software has stated that the size of the Space Age expansion rivals that of the original game, offering countless hours of gameplay for veteran players. Priced at $35, the expansion is priced similarly to the base game, making it a worthwhile investment for fans.

For those unable to afford the expansion, there is good news. The 2.0 update, which will be released alongside the expansion, will be available as a free download. This update introduces a new fluid system, remote view, improvements to train controls, combiners, and worker robot AI.

Both the Space Age expansion and the 2.0 update are scheduled to launch on October 21st, aligning with Wube's initial release estimate. The development team will utilize the time leading up to the launch to ensure a polished experience, with any necessary bug fixes to be addressed before Christmas.

Factorio fans can look forward to embarking on a new space-faring adventure with the Space Age expansion, accompanied by a host of new features and improvements in the 2.0 update.
