### Exxon Mobil CEO Urges Stability in U.S. Climate Policy

In a notable appeal, Exxon Mobil CEO Darren Woods has called on President-elect Trump to maintain U.S. participation in the Paris climate agreement. Woods emphasized the importance of consistency in international climate efforts and warned against the potential global confusion that could result from the U.S. exiting the accord.

Since its inception in 2015, Exxon Mobil has stood firmly behind the Paris Agreement, as highlighted by Woods in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. He stressed that a U.S. withdrawal, as proposed by Trump, would lead to significant disruptions. The Trump administration initially announced its intention to leave the accords in 2017, and by 2020, the U.S. had officially exited, marking it as the only country to do so.

The oscillation in U.S. climate policy poses a challenge for businesses, according to Woods. He criticized the inconsistency, stating, "I don't think the stops and starts are the right thing for business. It is extremely inefficient. It creates a lot of uncertainty."

In a reversal of Trump's landmark decision, President Biden rejoined the Paris Agreement in 2021. This policy shift underscores the ongoing debate over America's role in global climate efforts.

The Hill has reached out to a Trump spokesperson for comment on Woods' statements.
