Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet, known for his role as Cameron Tucker on the hit sitcom "Modern Family," recently opened up about his decision to leave the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to return to his roots in Kansas City. After spending 11 seasons on the popular show, Stonestreet shared insights on the contrasting lifestyles he experienced in the Midwest versus Los Angeles. During an interview on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger," the actor candidly discussed the different dynamics of interacting with people from both regions.
Stonestreet expressed how living in Kansas City allowed him to appreciate authentic and genuine interactions with individuals, which he found to be lacking in the pretentious atmosphere of Hollywood. However, the actor acknowledged that there were some perks to residing in Los Angeles, such as extravagant offerings like fruit arrangements. Reflecting on the entertainment industry, he remarked on how it amplifies both the positive aspects and the negative aspects, referring to it as a rollercoaster of experiences.
Despite his successful stint on "Modern Family," Stonestreet revealed that a potential spin-off for his character and Jesse Tyler Ferguson's character, Mitchell Pritchett, was turned down by the show's creators. He expressed disappointment over the rejection, stating that it had affected both his and Ferguson's feelings, as well as that of the show's writer, Chris Lloyd. Stonestreet received recognition for his portrayal of Cameron Tucker with two Emmy Awards during the show's run from 2009 to 2020, solidifying his place in television history.
