**Elon Musk Defends Trump’s Attorney General Nominee, Matt Gaetz**

Elon Musk, a prominent aide to President-elect Donald Trump, staunchly defended Trump's nomination of former U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz for attorney general. Musk highlighted Gaetz's potential to investigate adversaries of the incoming administration, despite controversy surrounding the nominee. "Gaetz will be great," Musk asserted on X, in response to criticism aimed at the former Florida congressman, who has been under scrutiny for his limited legal experience and an investigation into alleged child sex trafficking.

Following Trump's announcement of Gaetz's nomination, Musk pointed out that both he and Gaetz have accused the government of politically motivated investigations. With a charged statement, Musk hinted at impending justice, remarking, "The Hammer of Justice is coming." This rhetoric was aimed particularly at John Bolton, a known critic of Trump, who condemned Gaetz as an unfit choice for the attorney general position. "He is a person of moral turpitude," Bolton told NBC News, citing Gaetz's lack of competence and character for such a critical role.

In defending Gaetz on X, Musk disparaged Bolton by calling him a "staggeringly dumb warmonger," suggesting that Bolton's opposition actually serves as a positive signal for Gaetz. Musk's influential standing as a billionaire businessman and his role as the head of a new government efficiency program foreshadow his significant influence in the upcoming administration.

The Justice Department previously conducted a two-year investigation into allegations that Gaetz had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl and might have breached federal sex trafficking laws. The investigation resulted in no action against Gaetz, who has consistently denied the accusations, claiming he was the victim of a setup. Although the House Ethics Committee also probed Gaetz's conduct, the status of that investigation remains uncertain due to his resignation.

Gaetz himself has maintained that the investigations were politically driven. He has called for dismantling what he describes as a "weaponized" government. "If that means abolishing every one of the three-letter agencies, from the FBI to the ATF, I'm ready to get going!" he proclaimed on social media.

In nominating Gaetz, Trump, who faced legal challenges in four separate criminal cases in 2023, emphasized the urgent need to curb the partisan misuse of the justice system. "Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System," stated the President-elect.
