In recent years, Elon Musk's involvement in politics and his donations to political organizations have raised eyebrows and sparked discussions. According to sources, Musk's political affiliations have shifted towards the conservative side, prompting concerns among some of his liberal friends and associates.

It has been revealed that Musk has expressed a desire not to contribute to political groups whose donations are required to be disclosed. Instead, he has shown a preference for donating to dark-money organizations, which do not have the same disclosure requirements. This approach allows Musk to support political causes without his contributions being publicly known.

Musk's relationship with key Republican figures, including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, has also come into focus. McCarthy and Musk have developed a close relationship over the years, with McCarthy even providing political advice to the billionaire entrepreneur. Musk has attended exclusive events organized by McCarthy and has sought his counsel on various political matters.

Notably, Musk considered making a significant political donation to the American Action Network, a dark-money group associated with McCarthy's political operation. However, it remains unclear if he eventually made the donation. The influence of close friends and associates, including activist investor Nelson Peltz and confidant Diesel Peltz, son of Nelson Peltz, has also played a role in encouraging Musk's alignment with conservative figures such as McCarthy and former President Donald Trump.

Musk's political leanings have also been shaped by his move to Texas and interactions with conservative figures there, such as Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir. Discussions with Lonsdale and his aides have reportedly centered around Musk's concerns about the potential impact on his businesses if Texas were to turn blue.

While some of Musk's liberal friends have expressed their discontent with his rightward drift, the billionaire has reportedly given them private assurances that he is not supporting Trump financially. However, recent events suggest otherwise.

Following the assassination attempt on Trump, Musk took to social media to endorse the former president within an hour of the incident. This endorsement has fueled speculation about Musk's potential financial support for the Republican ticket in the future. Reports of a private dinner organized by Musk and entrepreneur David Sacks, where anti-Biden billionaires discussed opposing the President's re-election, further add to the intrigue surrounding Musk's political intentions.

Despite reports claiming Musk's intention to donate $45 million per month to a new super PAC supporting Trump, the actual figure remains unknown. Musk has dismissed the reported amount as false, leaving both the Trump and Biden camps in anticipation of a potential contribution.

In recent weeks, Musk has reportedly lobbied Trump to select Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate, showing his active involvement and influence in political decision-making.

While Musk has previously claimed to stay out of politics, his recent actions and associations suggest a deeper involvement. As his political leanings continue to evolve, questions remain about the potential impact on his businesses and his reputation within liberal circles.
