### Musk's $1 Million Daily Giveaway Sparks Legal Concerns Amid Election Rallies

Billionaire Elon Musk pledged on Saturday to distribute $1 million each day until November’s election to individuals who sign his online petition, leading to significant debate over the legality of these payments. The inaugural prize was awarded at a PAC event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, supporting Republican Donald Trump.

At the event, Musk presented a $1 million check to John Dreher, an unsuspecting attendee, creating a stir among the audience. Musk casually handed over the check, saying, "John had no idea. So anyway, you're welcome." This gesture is part of Musk’s broader efforts to influence the high-stakes presidential race between Trump and his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Musk’s America PAC, a political action committee he created to support Trump, has been actively working to mobilize and register voters in critical battleground states. Despite these efforts, there are signs that the organization is struggling to meet its objectives.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro voiced concerns on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, suggesting that Musk’s financial incentives for registered voters in Pennsylvania might warrant legal scrutiny. Shapiro described the plan as "deeply concerning" and worth law enforcement's attention.

Legal experts have pointed out that federal law prohibits cash payments intended to induce voting or voter registration, an offense that can lead to prison time. According to the Justice Department’s election-crimes manual, the prohibition includes not only direct cash payments but also other items of monetary value.

Saturday's event marked Musk’s third rally in Pennsylvania in as many days. During his addresses, Musk emphasized the importance of the upcoming election, urging supporters to vote early and motivate others to do the same. Participants were asked to sign a petition affirming their support for the First and Second Amendments, which also provided America PAC with vital contact information for potential voters.

Musk, identified by Forbes as the world's wealthiest individual, has already funneled at least $75 million into America PAC according to federal records. This funding has made the group an essential component of Trump's campaign strategy to reclaim the presidency.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has increasingly allied himself with Republican causes, emerging this year as a prominent Trump advocate. In exchange, Trump has pledged to appoint Musk to manage a government efficiency commission if he secures re-election.
