Billionaire Elon Musk recently voiced his suspicions regarding the absence of search results on Google related to the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. Taking to social media, Musk highlighted that Google Search's autocomplete feature failed to provide any relevant information about the July 13 shooting, suggesting that this omission may be improper and potentially indicative of election interference.

In a post, Musk wrote, "Wow, Google has a search ban on President Donald Trump. Election interference?" He followed up with another post expressing that Google may face significant trouble if found to be interfering with the election process.

However, Google denied taking any deliberate action to limit the search results. A company spokesperson told FOX Business that there was no "manual action taken on these predictions." They clarified that Google's Autocomplete feature includes protections against predictions associated with political violence, which were allegedly working as intended prior to the assassination attempt. The spokesperson added that Google is working on improving its systems to ensure they are more up to date.

To support Musk's claims, screenshots from Google were shared, showing recommended search results related to the failed assassination attempt of former President Ronald Reagan, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand (which sparked World War I), the shooting of Bob Marley, and the failed attempt on former President Gerald Ford. Users who tested the keyword search "Trump assassination attempt" reported that Google did not provide any additional terms or suggestions.

Donald Trump Jr. also joined the discussion, asserting that "Big Tech is trying to interfere in the election AGAIN to help Kamala Harris." He condemned Google's alleged intentional election interference as "truly despicable."

In response, Google's spokesperson emphasized that the Autocomplete feature is merely designed as a time-saving tool and users can still search for any term they desire. The company stated that following the tragic assassination attempt, they worked to connect people with high-quality information and will continue to do so.

As the conversation surrounding Google's search functions and potential election interference continues, the concerns raised by Elon Musk and Donald Trump Jr. highlight the ongoing scrutiny facing Big Tech companies in their role as gatekeepers of information during pivotal political events.
