Elon Musk’s vehement opposition to Donald Trump’s key legislative proposal, nicknamed the "Big Beautiful Bill," continues to escalate unabated. Taking his grievances to social media on Wednesday night, Musk endorsed a comment suggesting that the GOP is failing the 77 million Americans who supported Trump in the recent 2024 election. He further mocked the spending bill by sharing cartoons, memes, and even a rap video highlighting concerns over the national debt.

The billionaire's frustration with the bill, which he labeled a “disgusting abomination” on Tuesday, has ignited significant controversy within the Republican Party. Musk’s primary argument is that the bill will dramatically exacerbate the already substantial budget deficit, imposing an unmanageable financial burden on Americans. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has projected that the legislation would increase the deficit by $2.4 trillion over the next decade.

Among Musk’s shared content was a meme depicting a bus symbolizing the money DOGE has saved the government getting annihilated by a train representing “Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill." Musk captioned the post with a simple, “Exactly.” Additionally, Musk shared a link to comedian Remy Munasifi’s 2011 parody, “Raise the Debt Ceiling Rap,” which critiques the nation's financial spending habits with lyrics about the lack of Medicare funding and the impending risk of default due to excessive debt.

Musk also showed support for Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, one of only two House Republicans to vote against the bill. He backed Massie’s criticism of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who suggested Musk’s opposition stemmed from the bill's lack of benefits for his companies. Musk reposted Massie’s comment on social media, accompanying it with a heart and American flag emoji.

Hours before these posts, Musk had called on Americans to actively oppose the bill by contacting their congressional representatives, using imagery from Quentin Tarantino’s film "Kill Bill" to emphasize his point. Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are attempting to revise the bill amid significant internal and public dissent, but their slim majority complicates the passage.

Despite Musk's relentless criticism, former President Trump has yet to respond directly to one of his most prominent supporters. Commentators speculate Trump’s silence may be due to fear of alienating Musk, a powerful ally.
