This stark criticism comes shortly after the former head of DOGE exited the Trump administration.

According to an eye-opening tweet from Musk, his dissatisfaction stems from the bill's massive spending and what he perceives as wasteful expenditures. Musk tweeted, "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and independent analysts project that the bill, which also extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts, could potentially increase the deficit by approximately $2.3 trillion to $5 trillion over the next decade.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged Musk's well-known stance on the issue. During a briefing, she stated, "Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill."

The Senate is currently reviewing potential amendments to the bill, with Republican leadership aiming to finalize a compromise version by July 4.

In an interview with CBS News, Musk explained that the bill threatens DOGE's cost-cutting achievements. Having donated millions to Trump's 2024 re-election campaign and actively worked to reduce government spending during Trump's second term, Musk has now distanced himself from DOGE after Tesla's sales suffered due to his close association with the administration.

Responding to the bill’s likely consequences, Musk commented, "I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill," fearing its potential to add trillions to budget deficits. His concerns also highlight the backlash faced by his businesses because of his DOGE leadership.

The future impact of President Trump's "big, beautiful bill" remains uncertain. While some claim it could drive substantial economic growth, others fear it may exacerbate the national debt significantly. The division among congressional Republicans could make or break what is seen as Trump's key legislative achievement.
