### Elizabeth Howell: Veteran Space Journalist Bringing Diversity, Education, and Science to the Forefront
Elizabeth Howell, Ph.D., has been a dedicated writer for Space.com's spaceflight channel since 2022, focusing on diversity, education, and gaming. Before her full-time engagement, she contributed to Space.com for a decade, building a solid repertoire of impactful journalism.
Elizabeth’s extensive reporting experience includes notable interviews and exclusives with high-profile entities such as the White House and the Office of the Vice-President of the United States. Her passion for space journalism led her to an exclusive dialogue with Lance Bass, NSYNC bassist and aspiring space tourist. Moreover, she has been privileged to speak with members of the International Space Station multiple times, witness five human spaceflight launches on two continents, and participate in various extraordinary experiences, such as flying parabolic, working in a spacesuit, and engaging in a simulated Mars mission.
Elizabeth's academic background is as impressive as her professional achievements. She possesses a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota, a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of History from Athabasca University. Since 2015, she has been enriching minds as a post-secondary instructor in communications and science across several institutions. Notably, she developed and has been teaching an astronomy course that integrates Indigenous content at Algonquin College in Canada to over 1,000 students since 2020.
In addition to her teaching and journalistic endeavors, Elizabeth co-authored the book "Why Am I Taller?" alongside astronaut Dave Williams. Her journey into the realm of space began in 1996 after watching the movie "Apollo 13," nurturing a dream to become an astronaut herself.
