In a highly-anticipated battle for a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster, the competition between Ben VanSumeren and Oren Burks has captured the attention of fans and analysts alike. As the team prepares for its 92nd opening day just 11 days away, the final cuts loom, and the decision between VanSumeren and Burks becomes increasingly crucial.

VanSumeren, a standout special teamer as an undrafted rookie last year, has impressed this summer with his performance as a linebacker. Meanwhile, Burks, a 29-year-old player on a one-year contract, has showcased his skills as a special teamer as well. With limited spots available for off-ball linebackers, the Eagles face a tough decision.

Although Burks had the advantage initially, VanSumeren's excellent camp has made it difficult for the Eagles to risk losing him by keeping Burks on the roster. While it remains a close call, the likely scenario is that VanSumeren secures his spot on the 53-man roster while Burks finds himself on the outside looking in, potentially landing on the practice squad.

Moving on to the rest of the projected final roster, there are some notable names that have made the cut. At quarterback, Jalen Hurts leads the pack, joined by Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee. The running back position is comprised of Saquon Barkley, Kenny Gainwell, and Will Shipley. The wide receiver corps includes A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, and Ainias Smith, while at tight end, Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra hold the two spots.

On the offensive line, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Mekhi Becton, Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson, Tyler Steen, Dylan McMahon, and Trevor Keegan have secured their places. The defensive tackle group features Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo, Marlton Tuipulotu, and Thomas Booker IV.

The edge position sees Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, Bryce Huff, Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, and Patrick Johnson making the final roster. At linebacker, Nakobe Dean, Zach Baun, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Devin White, and Ben VanSumeren have all successfully earned their spots.

In the secondary, the safety position is filled by Reed Blankenship, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Tristin McCollum, and Avonte Maddox. The cornerback group consists of Darius Slay, Quinyon Mitchell, Kelee Ringo, Isaiah Rodgers, Eli Ricks, Cooper DeJean, and Josh Jobe.

Finally, the special teams unit includes Jake Elliott as the kicker, Rick Lovato as the long snapper, and Braden Mann as the punter.

In addition to the 53-man roster, Roob provides his projections for the practice squad, which includes names like Darian Kinnard, Nick Gates, Brett Toth, Parris Campbell, Joseph Ngata, Tyrion Davis-Price, Kendall Milton, Griffin Hebert, E.J. Jenkins, P.J. Mustipher, Julian Okwara, Andre' Sam, Shon Stephens, Zech McPhearson, Terrell Lewis, and Oren Burks.

With final cuts imminent and the regular season fast approaching, these decisions will shape the Eagles' roster for the upcoming campaign. Only time will tell if these projections prove accurate, but for now, the Philadelphia Eagles stand poised and ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
