In a recent post on Twitter, Shaun Noguchi, the general manager of EA Japan, expressed his outrage over the rating decision made by the Japanese Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO). Noguchi highlighted what he saw as a double standard between the upcoming PS5 exclusive game, Stellar Blade, and EA's popular title, Dead Space.

Noguchi pointed out that Stellar Blade, developed by ShiftUp, would be released uncensored in all regions, including Japan. He seemed particularly displeased that the game had received a CERO D rating despite featuring cross-sections of severed body parts and internal organs.

In contrast, Dead Space was refused classification by CERO due to its depiction of similar graphic content. Noguchi questioned this discrepancy, questioning why Stellar Blade was given a pass while Dead Space faced censorship.

"What's going on CERO?" Noguchi tweeted. "The Stellar Blade demo was really fun and action-packed. However, CERO, you denied our Dead Space a rating because it included cross-sections of severed body parts and internal organs, but here we have both cross-sections and insides on display passed off with a CERO D rating. I find this hard to accept."

The statement by EA Japan's general manager has sparked a debate about whether Korean-developed Stellar Blade is receiving preferential treatment from CERO. Some gamers argue that the bi-sections of bodies and depictions of decapitations in Dead Space may differ significantly from the content in Stellar Blade.

CERO is the organization responsible for rating video games in Japan, ensuring that they adhere to appropriate content guidelines. The decision to censor or prohibit a game is made based on the portrayal of violence, sexual themes, and other sensitive content.

As of now, CERO has not responded to Noguchi's tweet, leaving fans and industry insiders to speculate on the reasons behind the contrasting rating decisions. It remains to be seen whether this controversy will have any impact on future rating rulings by CERO or if it will lead to a reevaluation of the censorship guidelines.

Gamers and enthusiasts are encouraged to share their opinions on the matter in the comments section below, discussing whether they believe Stellar Blade is getting preferential treatment from the Japanese rating board or if the content differences between the two games justify the contrasting ratings.
