Double Fatality and Multiple Injuries Reported in Huntington Beach Stabbing Incident

Police in Huntington Beach are conducting an investigation into a deadly stabbing incident that occurred late on Thursday near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue. The incident resulted in the death of two individuals and left three others hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Jennifer Carey, the city's public affairs manager, officers responded to a multifamily residential complex at around 11:15 p.m. following reports of an alleged assault with a deadly weapon. Although specific details about how the injuries were inflicted were not provided by the police, authorities have confirmed that the incident involved a stabbing, as stated by the City News Service on Friday.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered several individuals with significant injuries. Three victims were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Tragically, two other individuals succumbed to their injuries at the location. Their identities have not been released due to an ongoing investigation conducted by the Huntington Police Department's Major Crime Unit.

Authorities have taken one suspect, identified as Logan Christopher Kelley, 26, of Huntington Beach, into custody. Kelley has been booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder as listed in the HBPD's online adult arrest log.

While it remains unclear if an Independence Day celebration was taking place at the time, various Fourth of July festivities were happening in the nearby downtown area of Huntington Beach. These included a fireworks show that had commenced just two hours before the reported assault. Jennifer Carey acknowledged the significance of the holiday in Huntington Beach, highlighting events such as the parade, activities at Pier Plaza, and the evening fireworks display.

Investigators are currently processing the crime scene and examining all available evidence. Although the police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety related to the incident, the possibility of additional suspects has not been ruled out. Jennifer Carey stated that the Major Crimes Unit is leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to uncover the truth.

As the investigation continues, the Huntington Beach community mourns the loss of two individuals and extends sympathies to those injured in the tragic stabbing incident.
