Trump, in a statement on Thursday, praised Wiles' integral role in his political successes, particularly noting her contributions to his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

"Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history," Trump said. "She is tough, smart, innovative, and universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well-deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud."

CNN reported that Wiles was the front-runner for the position, although she had some reservations and made certain conditions clear to Trump before accepting the role. Chief among her concerns was having more control over access to the Oval Office, aiming to manage the influence of informal advisers, family members, and friends who often vied for Trump's attention during his first term.

Wiles is credited with orchestrating Trump's most disciplined and sophisticated campaign to date. A key component of her strategy was managing access to the former president, a task that often involved making tough decisions to maintain order within his circle. Despite some challenges, such as the unintended inclusion of far-right activist Laura Loomer at key events, Wiles maintained a strong grip on the campaign's direction.

Wiles, daughter of the late NFL broadcaster Pat Summerall, has long been a trusted advisor within Trump’s team. After helping Trump secure Florida in 2020, she continued to serve as his de facto chief of staff during his post-presidency and led his latest campaign to victory. Her behind-the-scenes style and effectiveness have earned her both Trump's trust and public endorsements from his allies.

Brooke Rollins, another contender for the Chief of Staff position and a former Trump administration official, withdrew from consideration, recognizing Wiles' strong positioning for the job. Nonetheless, Rollins will continue to be involved in the Trump administration, heading the America First Policy Institute.

Wiles' appointment marks a significant moment in American history, breaking new ground as the first female to hold the Chief of Staff position. Her strategic acumen, discipline, and discretion have made her an essential figure in Trump's inner circle, promising a new era of organization and efficiency in the White House.
