Paul Dans has resigned from his position as director of Project 2025, which is considered the conservative roadmap for a potential second term under former President Donald Trump. The announcement of Dans' departure was made by Dr. Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, the organization behind Project 2025. Dans, who previously held a senior role in the Trump administration, had led the project to unite over 110 conservative organizations to develop a unified vision aimed at shifting power from the administrative state back to the people. The project was designed to provide a blueprint for the first 180 days of the future Republican president in office.

Project 2025's conservative proposals have drawn backlash from Democrats, warning against the potential implications of a second Trump presidency. Despite Trump's efforts to distance himself from Heritage's initiative, reports have surfaced linking over 140 individuals who worked in the Trump administration to the project. In response, the Trump campaign managers clarified that Project 2025 was not affiliated with the campaign and should not be associated with the former president. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have seized on the policies proposed by Project 2025 to underscore what they perceive as a significant vulnerability for Trump, with Democrats leveraging these conservative ideas in their political messaging.
