In a tragic turn of events, the devastated girlfriend of one of the Australian surfer brothers killed in a botched robbery in Mexico last month has spoken out for the first time since the bodies were identified. San Diego local, Emily Horwath, expressed her shattered heart and shared poignant photos and videos of her beloved boyfriend Callum Robinson, 33, who, along with his brother Jake, 30, and their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, lost their lives at the hands of carjackers.
Taking to Instagram, Horwath shared an image of her and Robinson embracing, accompanied by the heart-wrenching caption, "My heart is shattered into a million pieces. I don't have the words right now." In another photo capturing their love, the couple can be seen kissing, with Horwath emphasizing, "You are one of one. I will love you forever."
Horwath's heartbreaking tribute extended to both brothers, as she also shared a picture of Jake and nostalgically recalled their joyful moments together. "Always playing," she wrote alongside an image of Callum hanging off a tree, and expressed her longing for one more "koala hug" alongside an image of their loving embrace.
The grieving girlfriend further commemorated their relationship by posting videos of her and Callum dancing and having fun at various events. In a touching audio clip, she shared a voicemail he left her, where he expresses his love and affection. "Happy Tuesday! Good morning. It's 11:11, and I'm just thinking about you," he warmly greets her. Horwath revealed her intention to play the voicemail on repeat, describing him as someone who exuded positivity and smiles.
In addition to sharing her heartache, Horwath also created a GoFundMe campaign for the two brothers, which has received an overwhelming response, amassing nearly $160,000 in donations by Monday morning.
The tragic incident occurred on April 27 when the Australian brothers and their Californian friend visited Ensenada. According to Chief State Prosecutor Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez, the alleged thieves targeted the surfers after noticing their truck and tents, intending to steal their vehicle parts. When the foreigners resisted, a fatal confrontation took place, resulting in the deaths of all three men. To cover up their crime, the perpetrators burned the victims' tents and dumped their bodies in a 50-foot-deep well, concealing it with boards.
Jesús Gerardo Garcia Cota, his partner Ari Gisel García Cota, and Jesús' brother Cristian Alejandro Garcia were arrested in connection with the surfers' disappearance. While no murder charges have been filed yet, it is believed that at least one of the suspects, Jesús Gerardo Garcia Cota, played a direct role in the killings.
The shocking discovery of a fourth decomposed body, believed to be that of a missing rancher who owned the property, adds further anguish to the already harrowing crime.
As the investigation continues, the heartbroken girlfriend and families of the Australian surfers mourn their irreplaceable loss, while sharing cherished memories of their loved ones in the hope that justice will be served.
