### Detroit Lions' Jameson Williams Faces Concealed Weapon Charge Review
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office is currently evaluating a request for a warrant to arrest Detroit Lions' wide receiver Jameson Williams on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, according to WXYZ-TV in Detroit. The warrant request stemmed from a traffic stop conducted by the Detroit Police Department on October 8.
Jameson Williams was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his brother when they were pulled over after midnight for an alleged traffic violation. During the stop, two firearms were discovered in the car: one under Williams' passenger seat and another in the back seat. While the firearm in the back was registered to his brother, who held a concealed pistol license, the gun under Williams' seat was registered to him, but he did not possess a concealed pistol license.
Despite initial probable cause for an arrest, as stated by Detroit Police Commander Michael McGinnis, Williams was released from the scene after a series of phone calls made by a sergeant to higher-ranking officers. Body camera footage reveals Williams identified himself multiple times as a Lions player during the stop. Ultimately, the incident led to no police report being written, which triggered questions from WXYZ-TV and subsequently an internal investigation by the police department.
Williams' attorney, Todd Flood, emphasized their cooperation with law enforcement, stating that both men were respectful, and the weapons were properly registered. The Detroit Lions have been informed about the incident and have also kept the NFL updated. They stated that Williams was released without incident and is represented by an attorney, refraining from further comments due to ongoing legal proceedings.
Notably, this incident comes on the heels of Williams’ two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Additionally, he served a four-game suspension last season for breaching the league’s gambling policy. Williams, a first-round draft pick in 2022, has amassed 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
