**Cortez Masto Expresses Confidence in Democrats' Prospects in Nevada Ahead of Election Day**
Two days before voters head to the polls, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a key Democrat from Nevada, voiced strong confidence in her party's ability to secure victories in the battleground state. In an appearance on "Face the Nation," Cortez Masto expressed optimism regarding both local and national candidates' chances.
"I am optimistic that we are going to win, not only for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, but for Jacky Rosen in this state," Cortez Masto said. Despite Republicans currently leading in early voter turnout, the senator remains hopeful due to the robust ground game and canvassing efforts by Democrats. Nearly half of Nevada’s active registered voters have already cast their ballots.
Nevada, a state pivotal due to its significant working-class population and economy dependent on tourism and hospitality, has been particularly affected by the economic policies during the pandemic. This backdrop has intensified the competition, with Republicans looking to capitalize on voter frustrations from the 2020 pandemic closures.
Cortez Masto highlighted the importance of connecting with voters on relevant issues. "Now is the time for us to connect with our voters and talk to them about the issues that they care about," she emphasized, noting the Democrats' engagement with working-class communities and organized labor's support for Harris.
Reflecting on the tight nature of Nevada elections, Cortez Masto recalled her own narrow victory in 2022. She stressed the importance of nonpartisan voters who have historically leaned toward Democratic candidates. "I am very, very confident that, as we are working our ground game, we're going to organize our way to victory here," she stated.
As competition remains fierce, Cortez Masto also defended President Joe Biden's recent controversial comments about Trump supporters, indicating that Biden had clarified his remarks. Additionally, she underscored Harris's commitment to representing all voters, irrespective of their political affiliation.
In a contrasting view, Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida criticized the Democrats' approach, suggesting that the campaign's actions might reflect uncertainty rather than confidence. The political landscape remains tightly contested as both parties make their final appeals to voters in Nevada.
